All I know is that he's no longer there, but seeing as how no one knows why, I'm sure it was something big enough that made them keep it all hush hush.

I liked Allen, I thought he did a good job of running his field. Sure some things could have been better but it was a place that consistently had over 100 people so he must have done something right. Rumor has it that Allen got in a fight with Dave out there and so he left. I have also heard that he had a surgical operation but I don't know for sure so don't quote me on any of this.

I had some bad experiences with Allen as well. Anyone who knows me, knows that i simply DO NOT CHEAT. I do however, get pissed off when I catch other people cheating, badmouthing or needlessly bonus-balling people (i.e: ME!).

Needless to say, I was pissed off very often at APG, because some of the people who play out there wipe like they were washing dishes, curse like drunken sailors, and bonus-ball anything that moves. I would even go as far as to "hunt down" people who did stuff like that, which instantly put me at odds with Allen, because it was usually one of his "favored" regulars that would do things like that. That wasn't very sportsmanlike to hunt people down, but I was getting pretty tired of that kind of behavior.

Anyway after one of my rants, Allen decided he didn't want me out there anymore. He stated to two of his referees (with my girlfriend within earshot) that he would have me kicked off his field by the end of the day. Sure enough, after I had shot him out in a round of woodsball, he came up to me and started yelling that I had been hit in my pack, and that I had been "cheating" all day and I had to leave the field. I asked one of his senior refs to check me and he found no paint on me. So I went up to Allen and asked him to show me where I had been hit, and he told me I must have wiped it and to leave his field and not ever come back.

Ironically, that was probably the best thing that ever happend to me, because it got me to go to some other fields, and experience "airball" for the first time, and led me to form Team Sinister. Thank you Allen! For his efforts, I took about a dozen of his regular players with me when I left, because they ALL knew I was not one to cheat, and that Allen's actions were more out of spite than fairness.

Just thought I would share that story with you all, I'm sure a lot of other players have some APG/Allen horror stories too.

In the 6 years I have played I have only gone to APG once. I went to meet some of the IPR guys, who I think are good guys. Most of the Norcall IPR'ers play at APG.

The time that I went ,about a year ago, I realized that there are some idiosyncracies that you must adhere to or you will be yelled at or just generally ostracized by some management, some refs and some players.

I enjoyed the day I spent with the IPR guys. I enjoyed talking with Don the ref.

I did not enjoy the endless woodsball games that others on this thread have already commented on.

APG has seemed to develop a strong following but it is not the place for me.

I am sure that the owner has a plan to move forward....and maybe change some of the culture that has existed there. If he does a good job, perhaps, even more players will show up.

But I think he is going to have a pretty compelling story to tell to get some of us old schoolers back.

i played at action for about 1 1/2 years and loved it, till i discovered another park, never been back. it is too bad, they have the best land for woodball, but the feeling i get when i go is "what am i doing wrong" because i know the second i do do something wrong, i will be cursed and yelled at. In reviews i hear people say "great place for new people" i cant believe they say that, noobs get it bad from the refs their.

I really don't seem to understand. For as tough as all you little punks claim to be, you cry like little girls when a guy yells at you. Sack up. I have been playing ball for almost 9 years and yes if you go to action and expect anything other then woods ball you are a complete idiot. I have heard plans that they are getting another airball field like they used to do but it hasn't happened yet.

Some of you people swear like that is the only place that people get bonus balled or wipe. GROW UP it happens at every field and honestly I noticed it alot less there then on some other fields. Some people here just think they are better then they really are.

I know that I am going to be bashed for saying most of this but I don't really care, I feel obligated to defend a stand up guy who was always honest with me and the field that I started at that consistently outdraws almost every field in Northern Cali. Let the bashings begin...

Do you have the explosives ready to blow yourself up?
As I mentioned in my earlier post, Action has a loyal following of people that like the type of Woodsball that that is available at Action.

I, personally, did not.

Secondly, I did enjoy my conversations with Don ,the ref. I did not enjoy my conversations with the rest of the staff. I thought that they were arrogant and abrasive. I am not a noob. I have played for 6 years. I think that their are a significant number of experienced players that might play ar Action if they would feel welcome.

This may be a stretch....but try to hold out an olive branch...rather than try to blow yourself up.

Just a thought....

no matter if you like the place, hate the place, or whatev, screaming obscenities at, around, to, in front of, or at all when there are kids and parents involved is just ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. and this was common practice with allen. not to mention the complete lack of rationality or predictablity he brought to the field. the guy was a lose cannon and had no business being in public view PERIOD.

if you have to compromise the inegrity of your field by cursing out kids and their parents to impose safety, THEN YOU ARE STILL DOING IT WRONG and are part of the problem.

flame me all you want. the guy is a complete peice of crap and ill scream it from the highest roof top. nothing made me happier in my paintball career than to hear that this idiot is no longer tormenting impressionable children and/or turning their parents off to a sport because he is a complete inbread redneck that has no idea how to be polite, rational, or in control. and nothing you can say to me will change my mind. like my grandma always said "CALL A SPADE A SPADE", or in this case "CALL AN IDIOT BY HIS NAME".

and for those of u guys getting pissy lordnando because you like action.. last time i checked this thread was about allen, not action. one has nothing to do with the other. at least not anymore. thank god for small miralces. and thats all i have to say about that.

word.

I tried to take the high road.....but your road is the road better traveled.
