Seven teens arrested after local prank

MILLSTONE — Vandalism last month led to the arrest of several area teenagers last week, police said.
According to the New Jersey State Police, Hamilton Station, at least seven high school students allegedly shot paintballs and threw eggs at three homes in Millstone and three in Upper Freehold on Aug. 12.
The incident took place during the night, she said.
Lt. Kathleen Devlin said 18-year-old Millstone resident Jonathan Rice, of Shield Road, was the only adult arrested.
Devlin said six juveniles were also arrested and that police, headed by Trooper Adam Grossman, are still investigating to see if others were involved.
All seven were charged with possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose and criminal mischief, according to Devlin, since a paintball gun is considered a weapon.
The juveniles all live in the Upper Freehold and Millstone area.
Devlin said that eggs and paintballs can do a lot of damage to a home.
“Eggs are almost impossible to get off [if left on for a while]. It takes the paint right off,” she said.
Devlin added that there is currently no estimate of the damage and that homeowners would need to contact their insurance companies for estimates.
