...and whipped up the attached pic. let me know what you think. im not sure if i did the half-block cut to real measurements...but you get the idea.

meh just looks like a turtled freeflow.
mrbananamann
09-13-2004, 07:02 PM
ya. it isnt anything too complicated. im only using CAD. i dont have the 3D editing program where i can make intricate (sp) curvy surfaces. i just used basic shapes. its my first one so...dont expect the cocker revolution....yet ;)

it definitely looks like a good start. I have an old right feed free flow modeled on one of my comps maybe I'll get it up here and you can tinker with that.

that would be awesome. does it look anything like this? :o

its an old boxer not alotus but some what. the annoe is banana yellow and black acid wash. its a pretty sweet old gun.
mrbananamann
09-17-2004, 07:56 AM
ya ive seen a couple of those yellow/black acid washes. they are really some nice peices of work. i cant find any places that do acid washing for a good price, otherwise i would get it done.
i whipped up another body. its a little more classic. no half block, just cut to mini.

this is what i was actually shooting for the ribbed upper tube to look like. but the out part of the ribs wouldn't fillet(curved edges for those not familiar with CAD). ill try again later.

i'll pay you money if you can come up with a ripper half block cocker. i can't do ripper designs
mrbananamann
09-25-2004, 09:08 PM
sure, ill give it a shot. can you hand draw and scan an example of what your looking for? remember i dont have a 3D editing program. i only have basic geometric shapes to work with in Auto CAD. im sure i can come up with SOMETHING. but ya, if you can draw something up for me or show me an example, then ill work on it for you. ive seen ripper cockers, but i would think not having a top tube would eliminate most of the complex milling.
*EDIT* also, can you get me the actual measurements for the bolt pin slot that ill need to cut in the top of the lower tube?

09-25-2004, 09:19 PM
what version of cad because i know that on the program i have u can do 3d renderings(sp)
mrbananamann
09-25-2004, 09:26 PM
im not sure. its an educational version that i use in Drafting at school. ill ask on monday what version it is and post it while im in class. its not rendering im looking for. we have a program that does rendering (moving parts into place, animating it basically) but no tools to make curvy sufaces. like making a DM4 in Auto CAD is impossible :P
PsybusterX
09-25-2004, 10:51 PM
yeah i'll get you the measurements on monday, i'm too tired now, and tomorrow i'll be swamped with my homework.
mrbananamann
09-26-2004, 05:28 PM
ok sounds good. the morning would be better if you could but if not its ok. i have the class second period and it starts at 9:19. if you cant, dont sweat it.
mrbananamann
09-27-2004, 08:25 AM
ok. here is what i am picturing with my crappy PhotoShop skills. im not sure if i can do all of it. the upper tube part, i can come close. it wont be exact mind you. but thats good isnt it? do you really want it exactly like the original? i can ****e it up for ya ;D. lmk if this is what you meant.

09-27-2004, 11:21 AM
yeah something like that, though if possible i would like it on the wgp bodies, no angel threads :P
mrbananamann
09-27-2004, 04:05 PM
ya. im doing it on the body that i used in all the other drawings ive posted. im pretty sure its WGP :-\ i got it off Have Blue's tech page on airsoldier.com. the one that has the red valve in it. i jsut realized, looking at your XTC picture, that i removed the whole site rail. including around the neck. ill move the design over to a body with the rail around the neck still intact. it should look better too.
btw, i started it today. so far so good. ive been making the designs from circles and using the tangents to bring the lines off them. that confused you im sure...but i should have the first phase done by tomorrow. ill post pics by like...10:40...if all goes well. the only thing that would completely ruin this, is if it doesnt fillet. then i have to start from scratch. so keep your fingers crossed.

09-27-2004, 08:56 PM
i know that there is a tool somewhere hidden on autocad 2003 for doing curvy surfaces it is just hard 2 use since it needs like 12 different measurements
where are u takeing drafting?
mrbananamann
09-28-2004, 08:09 AM
Woodcreek
ill ask if there is a tool like that
mrbananamann
09-28-2004, 10:41 AM
done! with phase one. i can leave it like this for you if youd like. im having SERIOUS problems filleting. and i dont think im going to be able to get them down. if i gave you the file like this, would you be able to fillet it yourself? i dont think the program is meant for this extreme milling ;). what kinda of cosmetic milling do you want? teardrops? something? tell me what youd like and ill mill up the bottom tube and the breach of the top tube. so just let me know. ill work on it some more later.
!ATTENTION!!ATTENTION!!ATTENTION!
I CLAIM RIGHTS TO THIS DRAWING! ANYONE CAUGHT COPYING WITHOUT PERMISSION WILL BE TAKEN TO COURT ;D
Psy is the only one that I give permission to use as of now. Should i put a patent in place? haha. 5 bucks says Smart Parts jacks it :P

but Psy may want to buy it off me if he likes it. maybe he will produce it? maybe not. i have to wait for him to get on. when you do get on Psy, catch me on AIM at xRedliner13x. im not on at the moment but i should be on later tonight. hope you like.

very good job but can i suggest a few somethings
the bottom tube need something to it its way to boring and looks like a stock 1
2nd have u tried to make the ridges on the upper tube to appear kinda like waves useing a circle command and makeing a p backwords then cut the circle so that it looks like the ridges go up like a wave and then have it like a circle(kinda hard to explain)
mrbananamann
09-29-2004, 10:05 PM
you mean fillet it? ya i tried that. but the program isnt doing a good job at recognizing the ridge as a chain fillet. and most of the time it wont fillet some parts at all. i had a little mishap and had to remake it. ill post new pics tomrrow. it looks better. time for sleep now.

hey just wondering how it is comeing along
also heres a thought if you would let me i might be able to do it on the cad that i am useing

10-06-2004, 09:56 PM
i put the project on halt for awhile. Psy ended up not needing it now, and i dont know if he ever will. its a little side project ill work on. if you want to show me your idea go ahead. im open to ideas.

ya i first tried there but they arent .dwg files. thats what AutoCAD uses. those are like .ivg or something like that. those would really come in handy if they were in format though. thanks for tryin.

.ivg is an InVentor Graphic file.

hey mr b man i figured it out during my drafting class today when it was doing the same thing your computer is doing the auctuall fileting but it isnt projecting them because it takes up to much ram so you need to allow for a greater # of angels in it so that it dosent appear to look like a octgon
if this is what it was let me know
mrbananamann
10-17-2004, 11:08 AM
well i know it isnt actually filleting becuase once i do it, it says "Failure while filleting" in the message box. it isnt really a big deal. i kinda ruined the body anyway. i cut a cunk too deep and didnt notice it until after i saved it. so theres a TINY little hole in the body. i could probably fix it, but it wouldnt be worth it. the design has a few flaws, so im going to do another once ive finished this thing. i using this one for my second semester project.
and thanks sam. i hope i can design the next DM4 style milling ;D but i need my hands on some more powerful machinery. i could use one of Cybers computers :P

here is where i am at. "turtle" bolt, pin, back block, and pull pin retaining screw in the bolt are finished. im working on the trigger frame and front block right now. i NEED that .ivg front block file from WWA's page so bad. and the freak back wouldnt hurt either. Ironpanther, do you have a program that can convert those into .dwg files? any chance you could convert em for me and email them to me? i would be so thankful.
my email is dyeguy65@gmail.com
dont worry about them being sent back to you. 1000 megs of space ;D
anyway...pics!!!

We do a LOT of file conversions into CAD but I couldn't figure it out. I even asked the drafters and they had never heard of that file type (we do mostly earthwork design though).
Have you tried to chamfer the edges, this can be less demanding processing wise if that is your problem. Not as nice as a fillet. Also you could try curve fitting.
Nice work.

a program that can run .ivg (or Inventors Graphic files as Ironpanther has said). the file types in the CAD/CAM section of WWA

well its done...in the sense i turned it in. its missing springs, screws, front gas block screw, trigger, and grips.

so did you do all the orings, pistons, springs, valves, and crap like that?
mrbananamann
11-10-2004, 06:19 PM
no :(
it was impossible with the time i had. i didnt even finish THAT one. haha. if i had the time to take it apart and measure every peice i would. i did make the hammer. but the valve came pre downloaded with the body. everything on that with exception of the body (the body as a whole. i did the "milling"), the feedneck, and the valve, i made by measuring the actual parts. except the back block, bolt, bolt pin, and pump arm that i made from guessing. the reg i just "designed". i forgot to make the exploded view today. ill do it friday, no school tomorrow ;D.
