Hi,

I had a brand new air tank (47ci, 3000psi) filled yesterday. It was filled from a scuba tank at a pressure of about 2700 psi.

I went home and stuck it in my closet. Last night I checked the pressure and gauge was reading about 2200.

This morning I got up and the pressure is reading about 1400psi.

Is my tank losing air slowly? Is it alright that it is losing this pressure? Or, is it just the dropping temperature of the air inside that is causing the pressure to go down and not a loss of air?

Any help is much appreciated!

Chris

It's actually aluminum.

I checked for any noise. I didn't hear any last night, but I must not have listened hard enough because I hear it now.

On the tank (which is a centerflag) above the gauge and fill nipple is a small hole. The hole is on the side and is between where it says "Centerflag made in USA" and "Hyperflow 400" I put my thumb over the hole, counted to five, and released. There was definitely air being released.

Anyone know what that hole is for, or can help me narrow down what is causing the air leak. And, is it something that can be easily repaired without me having to buy a whole new tank?

Uh do u have some sort of warrenty on it or sumthin. Otherwise i think u have to go for a whole new tank. Or c if u can take it back to the place u got it maybe they would know wat to do with it.

thats hole is an overpressure hole and if it is leaking through there it means your reg seat needs to be checked. Take it in to a local tech or contact centerflag to see if you can do the repair yourself or if it is under warranty. And no its not aluminum its steel. If it was aluminum if would have to be wrapped in carbone fiber and reson.

Oh, the sticker on the tank said aluminum, it's probably just a standard sticker then hehehe.

I bought the thing from J-Money on sacpaintball, he had it from a tourny and said it was not used. I never got a warranty card, would it even be worth a call to centerflag?

As for a local tech, any place you guys recommend? I could take it into the place I got it filled (Sinister), they seemed to be pretty competent about it all.

I'm just hoping I can get the thing repaired without having to go buy an entirely new tank!
