ive realized lately that people really take things for granted in paintball... things like turf and actual airball fields(let alone multiple at one park) and other things of that nature.
the reason i bring this up is because some of the turf isnt as great as others, but really, who cares? your playing on f***in turf instead of dirt or hard clay ground!!
not sure if this bugs anyone else... but for me, i grew up at a field where it was dirt and LOTS of rocks. but we didnt give a s*** because we were playing paintball and thats what we loved the most...

i'm not even 18 yet and i know what sherman is talking about, lots of players take things for granted and don't even realize what they have

I know exactly what you mean! I'm sure most of you have figured out I live in Michigan, but the closest Xball field (or tournament based field in general) is a 3 hour drive for me. People need to appreciate playing in general before they whine about the facilities.
Good topic Sherman

4 years ago i started working at a field for 2 reasons:
1. i thought it would be the BEST job in the world, and it was.
and the 2nd which is the better reason, is that i was allowed to play for free. yeah it was dirt and rocks but it was the best time of my life.
gotta say alot of kids are taking these newly found luxurious privelages as rights, and its gettin old quick.

Sherm-
I've seen you grow up playing paintball with Nick when we 1st met you in 07' playing woodsball and you 2 wrking at the same field. You guys were little 'scrawny' kids back then. Both of you have done many tournies together and I'm glad you 2 have stuck it out all these yrs thru good and bad.

Some of us from "back in the day" remember helping construct the fields that we paid to play on.
We loved the sport and were grateful that the fieldowners were willing to commit money to make the sport better.
Early days in the sport fieldowners were true entrepeneurs.....we owe them a lot.

Yes we do owe them a lot and still do owe the field owners of today a lot as well. Its not easy running a field and it cost a hell of a lot more that the players of today think.

true that Jr., i would say im surprised that there was a lack of response on this thread from the newer crowd of players, but that doesnt surprise me.
what does surprise me is that there is a lack of response from the crowd thats been around the scene for a while...

Why can't kids these day do something like that? theres always ways to make money, i would be glad to help out in anyway possible!

old post but such an open topic, I am only 15, but I've worked for everything I own in my life... Sure my parents have helped me out, but I've never taken advantage of that, nor do I take advantage of the fields that are out there today. If anything it pisses me off to see my friends cry and whine about how the field was to wet or that the Bunkers were F****'d up.. I hate to say it, but if this is the future of paintball, were screwed lmao... People just need to be brought back down to earth and shown that everything around them isn't built in a day. Its built from good old hardship's, sweat and tears. (=..
Hope to see y'all on the field, good luck and be safe..
