Hi all,

trying to decide whether I should upgrade the stock bolt in my '02 stock gun to shocktech's super fly bolt or
3Ds Air-O Third Generation Bolt.

I am going to ultimately buy Shocktech's Front-End kit and want to get a bolt that is going to be good for accuracy but also be lightweight enough to allow me to lower my operating pressure.

Anybody have any pro's cons about either that you can let me know about? I went to pbreview.com, but pretty much everyone has nothing but good things to say about both.

Chris

PS - I posted this same thing on air-powered.com, many people recommended to me that Jackal bolt. What do you guys think of that?

choose neither get a AKA lightning bolt made out of delrin.

aka bolt will probably be the most efficient. i made some custom bolts for half blocks which creates the largest open face for a large amount of volume of air. but i would go with the aka or supafly bolt.

I would actually go with the AIR-O bolt. I did some research on them when I was considering getting a new bolt, and it seemed very promising and only had good reviews on it. I would check out the Air-O, AKA, SLIK, and then if you don't like those, get the Superfly.

The Super Fly I've decided against, because it has an aluminum (heavy) core.

I'm going for as light a bolt as possible, so now I'm looking at either that AKA or the Air-O. I might go with the Air-O, it's a little bit cheaper.

I'm also looking into getting the Air-O Feather Back Bolt and Pull pin, both of which are made of delrin for lightness.

That, added to the shocktech front end kit that I want, and my gun should have a pretty fast cycle speed. What do you guys think?

shocktech is only bad copies and rip offs of other people's work. I would say go for a eclipse or besales front end and the AKA bolt. The AKA bolt is 100% delrin and has been around and has a solid following. I haven't even heard of the AIR o bolt.

I was checking out that review, a lot of people were saying that the AKA actually slowed the cycle down or that it really didn't that much in lowering the pressure.

That review is for the Air-O, which seems to have no such problems (and is a little bit cheaper).

Any thoughts?

I really don't care what a review says when I have been using the aka bolt for over a year now. I have used it on my cocker since before I got an eblade and anybody that has shot my cocker with the eblade will tell you it rips. NO the aka delrin lightning bolt does not slow the cycle time. AKA does make the lightning bolt in both delring and nickle plated aluminum and that may have been what was used in the review. Just because the AIR o bolt has a ocuple of god reviews and is cheaper is no reason to buy it over proven hig quality bolt.

i have one of the newer supa-flys and it really increased the cycle rate on my gun. its a decent bolt but these guys are right, if i were able to get my hands on an aka lighting bolt it would be no contest. Ive tried both and the aka is so much better. low rate of fire with the aka bolt-it was probably just a rumor.
