Well here is my situation, I was given a 20 pound CO2 tank from a friend that works for Pepsi. The tank is one they use for the fountain sodas at the convenience stores. Now I have read and found out I need a "siphon" or "tip tube" bottle to fill other tanks. My problem is I don't know if the tank is a siphon tank, the only thing on the tank is a tag with caution compressed gas. So does anyone know if a CO2 tank used for fountain soda is a siphon tank? If no one knows is their a way I can find out and what would happen if it wasn't and I tried to fill my CO2 tank off of it?

i think u need a dip tube. If its not it will fill ur tank with air and not the liquid co2 u want.

if the bottle does not have DIP TUBE painted somewhere on it then it doesn't have a one. To fill off of these kinds of bottles you need to actually have it over on it's side so that the air is pushing the liquid CO2 out of the nozzle when you open it.
