Oakley H.S. Dismissed After Fake Bombs Found

Freedom High School in Oakley dismissed students for the day after two su****ious devices were found on campus Tuesday morning, a spokesman for the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office reported.

Jimmy Lee said the devices turned out to be fake, but were designed to look like pipe bombs and had to be disabled because "obviously, we can't take any chances."

Authorities were alerted to the first device, near the front entrance of the school, around 9:30 this morning.

Lee said the campus was soon placed on lockdown, and in the ensuing search of the grounds, police found a second su****ious device near the school gymnasium.

The school received no notes or threats about the devices, Lee said. A student who found the first one alerted a staff member, who called Oakley police.

The school's approximately 2,000 students waited in the football stadium with staff while the Walnut Creek Police Department bomb squad conducted its operations, Lee said. The students were released around noon.

Lee said an investigation into who placed the devices on campus is under way.

There was a bomb threat when I was in high school also (Armijo High). Someone left a backpack in the hallway and a teacher said she heard a continuous clicking noise coming out of it and so she told the office. And they decided to evacuate all the classes saying it was a "drill". I think this was a good thing because it kinda broke the "clicks" and everybody talked to one another. And I got to talk to the schools hottest girls because the "bomb" was planted in the hall I was currently in. And another funny thing is while we were in the baseball fields waiting for them to take out the bomb, I had to take a fatty shat (damn cheese sticks). So a teacher had to escort me to a bathroom to the annex, (just on lockdown, not evacuated.) It definately was an experience.

a few years ago there was a bomb threat at the school next to us. But our skool (Center High) never gets bomb threats. we just have at least 1 person a week get hit by a speeding car. I was a witness on one the accedents. It was bloody. The kid just rode his bike accross the street and van hit him. he was past out on the ground, bleeding out of his eyes and head and other places I cant spell.
