Momma's Boys

Could anyone clarify for me why so many people have problems with the Momma's Boys? I just started checking some of their scores and I found a lot of forums where people would talk crap and call them "Sandbaggers." If my checking was correct then they have only been in novice for a year...could anyone explain the situation for me? It seems like it started after they beat Justice.

Any info would be appreciated.

Because the general consensus is that if you win almost every event in the season, then you should move up the next. Trauma could have played Am again after winning every event the previous season. But for what? They proved themselves in that division and moved on. I guess what it comes down to is are you playing for money or respect. For Money= Play down and increase probabilty of winning(seen as sandbagging), For Respect= Play up and earn respect.

But I saw one post that said they have only been in Novice for a year and are going to move up.

Not real sure how long the team has been nov(2yrs I think), but they havent moved up yet.

what thumper said is partly true, this isnot to bash the MB cause i think they could do very well as am, but more in general... you only gain that respect playing up IF you are good enough that u can still place well consistantly in the next division. noone has mad "respect" for a team that does well as a firts or second year nov then moves on to get mowed in the next division, they just become a forgotten team

mommas boys played nov last year and this is there second season of nov. They lost a few of there players this season and picked up some rookies, one reason they stayed nov. Also its a very hard bump to amateur in psp. They could play pro/am 10-man but more and more that division is becoming increasingly worse. Its the same with a lot of div 2 xball teams, because div2 is more of am/nov, and div 1 is pro its hard to make a bump from being a nov to competing with lanche, dynasty, xsv etc. Teams such as twisted have the same dillema.

The momma's boys are a great team and group of guys but I think one of the main reasons that there staying novice is money. Moving up means increases entry fees and more time dedicated to practice.plus more risk that they will lose thus missing out on cash prizes. There not all rich. Paintball takes alot of money to participate in, especially tournemants.

Momma's Boys are mad ballers and would kill in Amatuer. Maybe next season they'll turn AM.

Hellanorcal is correct int he loss of our players. As some may know we only have 4 of our players from last year still on the team this year at this point. We are lucky enough to have one of the best talent pools in the world to pull from and a unified team that we an get better with coaching eachother and practice.

Dane makes a good point but saying we are not rich would be an understatement. We get no money from sponsors what so ever adn we pay for our paint every practice and to play at fields we pay too. We are broke ass. If it weren't for Shane Co. and his big heart and generosity we would probably be out of commission more than once. Also Big Ed has helped us on more than one occasion, you know who are, and we love ya.

The bottom line is , we don't win, we can't play and playing in a bracket of "pros" with half a team of rookies is not a gamble I take. We will see what the future holds.

As for sandbagging, fool please, haters can't see us 8)

um brad check you facts- Tom was the best back player I have had on any team- John broke open more games then any other player I have had- Dazzi when to Assasins, nuff said- Drew played front all year and didn't get shot off the break for two entire tourney in a row, in ten man!, not to down play some of the guys we have picked up but they are yet to be "better" than the players we lost, not that it won't happen, it just hasn't yet. As for other guys we lost besides these four there are about 2-3 and yes we have compensated for them witrh good pick ups.

Don't worry, I won't constrew it as hate but I don't understand your point? You are saying we should have bumped up to AM with a team of rookies because you thought/think they are good? Guys I have never played with before going into the season and base the teams income on these rookies? If that is your point then I don't agree but you are entitled to it.

I think that Podesta's post answers any questions anyone might have had. I know a few players I really liked were the ones that left the team but all the players that made the team will get better and Momma's Boys will continue to win just like they have in the past.
